Christmas Memories from Appalachian Quilts

When we were little, Momma used to load us up and take us to Granny's in WV for the holidays.  The anticipation of seeing my cousins made me one of the most well-behaved kids you have ever seen.  Granny and my WV family lived in a 'hollow' (pronounced holl-er).  I come from a HUGE family.  So, when we got together it was absolute craziness.  My family is loud and we have never taken ourselves too seriously.  If you didn't have fun, it was your own fault.  I have so many special memories of the holidays.  I want my ...

If you want the cider, you have to pick the apples! from Appalachian Quilts

 A fond memory I have is making apple cider with Pops.  We had a farm market for a few years and made apple cider to sell.  After a week or so with a hand press, Pops 'modified' it and put a motor on it.  Is is so completely unsafe.  It is not grounded and Hubs really needs to re-work it.  But, he has strict marching orders - he is not allowed to replace it.  He can fix what needs fixed, but Pops did it.  I have the press.  It needs to continue to fulfill my need for nostalgia.  It is full ...

So, How Are YOU Doing?? from Appalachian Quilts

A month ago none of us would have known that we were going to be where we are today.  If you had known, what would YOU have done differently (besides stock up on toilet paper...LOL)?  How are you doing right now?  My prayer is that you are all doing well.  I have watched the sometimes funny social media memes depicting everything from how parents are handling new-to-them homeschooling to concerns about grocery shortages.  Would you have lived your life the same way?
